On Friday evening at 7.30pm, Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were called to the assistance of two walkers lost in the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks, Co. Kerry. The climbers, a couple visiting from America had been walking for the day before getting disorientated and calling for help.

The climbers position was identified using SARLOC, a system that can help locate walkers using mobile phone technology. They were reached by the Team at approximately 10.00pm in steep ground on the Southern side of Carrantuohill. They were very cold and wet. The couple were provided with warm dry clothing along with food and drinks before being roped to safer position and on down the mountain to Team Landrovers.

Conditions on the mountain were challenging with strong wind and rain. 18 members of KMRT attended the call out which concluded at 01.30am.
