Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Killarney National Park, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí after a local man had gone missing in the National Park. The callout was stood down at 13.30 after the man was located safe and well.

Sunday, January 8, 2023. Coonanaspig, Callout
The team was contacted by Caherciveen Gardaí at 18.30 after a sheep farmer failed to return home. A full callout was initiated but was stood down one hour later after the man was located. Unfortunately he had passed away. RIP.

Sunday, December 25, 2022. Stoompa, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 17.00 after a couple reported being lost close to Mangerton mountain. Using sarloc their position was determined to be south of the summit of Stoompa. 5 team members located them and walked them to safety. The callout concluded approx 21.15

Saturday, November 5, 2022. Purple Mountain, Callout
Team contacted by Killarney Gardaí requesting assistance for two walkers who had become lost on Purple mountain. Using sarloc their position was identified and the couple were walked off to Moriartys house in the Gap.

Sunday, October 9, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Partial Callout
The Team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 3.30am after a man who was camping on top of the ladder had his tent damaged in the wind and couldn’t make it down. The casualty was shortroped to safety.

Sunday, October 9, 2022. Old Kenmare Road, Assistance
The team were called at 13.50 after some members of a charity walk were unable to pass deep water on the Old Kenmare Road close to Derrycunnihy. The were brought out by landrover.

Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Ladies View, Alert
The Team was contacted by Kenmare Gardaí at 13.30 after a man got into difficulty near Ladies View. Kenmare Fire Brigade attended the scene and brought him to safety.

Saturday, September 17, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The Team was contacted by Anglesea St Gardaí at 13.00 after a man tore his calf muscle close to the top of Br O’Shea’s Gully. He was brought to the summit and subsequently airlifted at 16.15 by Rescue115.

Thursday, September 8, 2022. Toinne, Assistance
The Team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 17.20 after a man experienced vertigo and headaches on Toinne and was unable to descend. 3 members shortroped him to safety.

Sunday, September 4, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Partial Callout
The Team was contacted by Anglesea Street Gardaí after a woman reported having trouble with her ankle at the top of Brother O’Shea’s Gully. She was advised to continue to the summit and make her way down towards the Devil’s Ladder. She successfully made her way back to the Hag’s Glen.

Sunday, September 4, 2022. Black Valley, Alert
The Team was contact again by Anglesea Street Gardaí at 20.25 after a male walker failed to show up in the Bridia Valley after leaving his Killarney accommodation at 9.30 that morning. Several enquiries were made with Black Valley residents before the walker turned up at O’Sullivan’s at the back of the Black Valley at 21.30.

Saturday, September 3, 2022. Old Kenmare Road, Partial Callout
The Team was contacted by Valentia coastguard after a walker sustained a broken ankle in Esknamucky Glen on the Old Kenmare Road. 7 members stretchered the casualty from Coors Cascade to the Landrover and brought her back to the Upper torc Car Park.

Sunday, August 28, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The Team was contacted by a walker requesting assistance for a person who had become unwell on the Devil’s Ladder. R115 was tasked and unable to winch, brought members and gear to the top of the ladder. The casualty was stretchered to Ard na Locha and transported by Landrover to Kissane’s Shop where he was transferred by Ambulance to UHK.

Saturday 27 August, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Assistance
The Team was contacted by Anglesea Street Gardaí requesting assistance for a walker who had become unwell on the old Kenmare Road. A team member met the casualty near Cores Cascade and brought him back to his car.

Saturday 27 August, 2022. Hags Glen, Assistance
At the same time the team were contacted by a walker on the zig zags requesting assistance for his companion who had become exhausted. Two team members went to the Hag’s Glen and brought the casualty back to her car.

Saturday, August 20, 2022. Toinne, Callout
The Team received a call from Aero med requesting assistance for a walker who had fallen approx 150m from Bothar na Gíge (the Zig-Zags). The Team stretched the casualty to Ard na Locha where he was transferred to R115 and onto UHK.

Sunday, August 14, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The Team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí requesting assistance for 3 climbers who were at the top of Primroses. A full callout was initiated. R115 was tasked and dropped a winch man on the summit to clear the area of walkers. Due to a technical problem with the heli he dropped the kmrt members to the top of the ladder and returned to Shannon. The casualties walked out with the aid of a passer-by and team members. R117 arrived and lifted the casualties and team members from the top of the ladder to Ard na Locha where the casualties were assessed by Coastguard paramedics.

Thursday, August 11, 2022. Beenkeragh, Assistance
The Team was contacted by Anglesea Street Gardaí regarding a walker who was suffering from severe cramps (Heat exhaustion) near the summit of Beenkeragh. The casualty was airlifted to hospital by RII5.

Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Mount Eagle, Alert
The Team was contacted by Aero Med requesting assistance for a walker who suffered a lower leg injury on Mount Eagle. The call was passed to Dingle and Valentia Coastguard.

Friday, August 5, 2022. Skregmore, Alert
The Team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí after a walker heard 2 shouts for help in the Skregmore area. The walker was contacted and no further action was taken. The Gardaí were informed of this decision.

Friday, August 5, 2022. Seefin, Assistance
The Team was contacted by Aero Med requesting assistance for a mountain biker who suffered a leg injury on Seefin mountain in the Ballyhouras. The call was passed to SEMRA.

Thursday, August 4, 2022. Brandon, Callout
The Team was contacted by Tralee Gardaí at 01.14 requesting assistance for a walker who was missing in the Brandon – Faha area. The walker was located by Dingle Coastguard above Lough Cruitta and both teams stretchered the person to the road where she was transferred to R115 who brought her to UHK.

Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Curraghmore, Callout
The Team was contacted by Anglesea Street Gardaí requesting assistance for a walker who had sustained a lower leg injury between Curraghmore and Bridia. The casualty was stretched off and transferred to an awaiting ambulance at the Black Valley church.

Sunday, July 31, 2022. Stradbally, Assistance
The Team was contacted by Aero Med requesting assistance for an injured walker on Stradbally Mountain. The call was passed to Valentia coastguard and Dingle Coastguard. R115 lifted the casualty to UHK.

The Team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí requesting assistance for a walker who had become unwell at the top of the Hydro Road. Two team members turned out and the casualty was handed over to the Ambulance service.

Sunday, July 17, 2022. Hags Glen, Assistance
The team was contacted to assist a walker with a sprained ankle at Ard na Locha. The casualty was driven to Cronins Yard.

Saturday, July 16, 2022. Torc, Alert
The team was contacted by Aeromed at 11.30 after a woman sustained injuries to both ankles high on torc mountain. A callout was initiated and Rescue 115 was tasked. The casualty was airlifted to KUH at 12.35.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 19.20 after a walker sustained an ankle injury above the Devil’s Ladder. Rescue 115 was tasked and the casualty was airlifted to KUH.

Thursday, July 7, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Alert
The team was contacted at 23.00 after two women were not heard from in 9 hours since they reached the top of the Devils Ladder which ascending Carrauntoohil. A full callout was initiated and shortly afterwards stood down again as the women turned up at Cronin’s Yard at 23.30.

Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Toinne, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai 4pm after a woman (72 year old American) took a c.30 metre fall on Toinne (sustaining dislocated knee, broken wrist and lacerated head). The team hauled her up onto the ridge where R115 was able to land. She was airflifted to Limerick University Hospital.

The team was contacted by Anglesea St Gardaí requesting assistance for two walkers who were overdue in the Torc area. A short time later they turned up.

Thursday, July 1, 2022. Slieve Mish, Assistance
The team was contacted by Anglesea St Gardaí requesting assistance for a walker who had become disorientated on Slieve Mish. After phone contact with the walker, two team members met up with him and walked him out.

Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Beenkeragh Ridge, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 7.30pm after 2 people reported being lost and cragfast on Carrauntoohil. Sarloc determined their position to be on the Beenkeragh ridge, close to the top of Br O’Sheas gully. 6 members shortroped them to safety.

Saturday, June 25, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 2pm after 3 people reported being lost on Carrauntoohil. Sarloc determined their position to be on the Beenkeragh ridge, close to the top of Br O’Sheas gully. As team members walked to the area, one of the casualties left the ridge to descend. After eventually making contact with this person, other members were dispatched to meet him in Coomloughra. A further conversation with the remaining casualties revealed that they two had left their original position on the ridge to descend into Coomloughra. They were eventually located above Lough Eagher and walked to safety.

Sunday, June 19, 2022. Mangerton, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 2pm after a woman sustained ankle injuries following a fall close to the outlet of the Devil’s Punchbowl on Mangerton. A full callout was initiated and Rescue115 was tasked. After dropping a winchman to the casualty the weather closed in and 6 members were airlifted to a site close to the scene. As winching of the team was about to commence a weather window opened and the casualty was winched onboard and transported to KUH.

Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Toinne, Assistance
Two team members assisted two walkers at 11.30 pm on the Zig Zags. It took 2hrs from the bottom of the zig zag to Ard Na Locha. They were driven back to their accommodation.

Sunday, June 12, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 11pm after a group of 5 reported themselves stuck after going off route at the top of Howling Ridge. They were advised to wait until first light and then call again if they were still if difficulty. At 5.15am they called to say they were in the same position and unable to move. 7 members of the team travelled to Ard na Locha where 6 were airlifted by R115 to the summit of Corrán Tuathail. The group were roped to the summit and walked back to Ard na Locha.

Saturday, June 11, 2022. Eastern Reeks, Callout
The team was contacted by Aeromed at 14.10 after a man sustained multiple injuries following a c. 50m fall from the ridge (Black Valley side) between Cnoc Peiste and The Big Gun. R115 was tasked but were unable to winch from the location due to high winds. 2 members, already on the Reeks went directly to the casualty while another 2 members were dispatched from the Hags Glen with first aid gear. Rescue base was moved to the Black Valley from where 12 members were airlifted to Lough Googh. A further 10 members made their way on foot. The casualty was lowered over difficult terrain to a point above Lough Googh from where an airlift was attempted but proved unsuccessful. The casualty was lowered further to just above the outlet of Lough Googh from where he was airlifted at approx 11pm. The callout ended at 12 midnight.

Thursday, June 9, 2022. Gougane Barra, Alert
The team was contacted by Aeromed Cork at 15.00 after 2 elderly men fell into a gully close to the car park in Gougane Barra. The call was subsequently stood down after speaking with Neil Lucey of Gougane Barra Hotel.

Thursday, June 9, 2022. Muckross, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 16.05 after a woman sustained a fall off the limestone on the shores of Lough Léin, close to Muckross Abbey. Team members met with ambulance personnel and stretchered the woman to the awaiting ambulance.

Friday, June 3, 2022. Beenkeragh Ridge, Callout
After the previous callout was concluded, the team received another call from Aeromed Cork after a walker sustained a dislocated shoulder on the Coomloughra side of the Beenkeragh Ridge. The casualty was shortroped to safety.

Wednesday June 1 – Friday June 3, 2022. Reeks, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 11pm after a male walker failed to return to his accommodation after walking in the Reeks. A full callout was initiated for 5am and R117 tasked. After a full day searching, new information came to light on the evening of June 2nd. The search area was moved to the Eastern Reeks and a body was found behind Cummeenapeiste Lake at 9am. The body was removed to Lisliebane. RIP. On this callout the team also received help from Iveragh Coastguard unit, SARDA and SEMRA members as well as a number of locals.

The team was contacted by Aeromed Cork at 16.45 after a woman sustained a compound fracture of her ankle low on the Devil’s Ladder. She was evacuated to Ard na Locha and airlifted to KUH by Rescue115.

Sunday, May 28, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Assistance
The team was contacted by Anglesea St Gardai at 15.00 after a man showed symptoms of a heart attack above between the top of the Devil’s Ladder and the summit of Carrauntoohil. Two members in the area went to his assistance and he was airlifted by R115 to KUH and subsequently onto Limerick Hospital.

Sunday, May 14, 2022. Old Kenmare Road, Callout
The team was contacted by Ambulance Control at 12.50 after a man showed symptoms of a heart attack on the Old Kenmare Road. The team located the man and transported ambulance personnel to his location. He was then airlifted by R115 to KUH.

Sunday, May 1, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The team was contacted by Gardai at 15.40 after 60 year old male took a fall in Brother O’Shea’s Gully sustaining head injuries. The casualty kept walking down and met team members below the first level from where he was escorted to an awaiting ambulance.

After the first callout the team was contacted after a man with medical issues was overcome with exhaustion after descending Corrán Tuathail. A team vehicle brought him out to an awaiting ambulance.

Thursday, April 28, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Assistance
The team was contacted at 18.00 after a man had taken a fall on Corrán Tuathail, sustaining head injuries and memory loss. He had made his own way down the mountain and was met by a team vehicle and transported to an awaiting ambulance at Kissane’s Shop. The Community Air Ambulance was also tasked.

Saturday, April 16, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The team was contacted by Valentia Coastguard at 13.20 after 2 walkers became cragfast on steep ground above Coimin Iochtar. With communication only available through 999, locating the couple proved difficult. Cables were set up above the couple and they were lowered to safety.

Saturday, April 9, 2022. Screg Mhór, Callout
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai after a man sustained a broken ankle close to Screg Mhór. Rescue115 was tasked and airlifted the casualty to KUH.

Thursday, March 31, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The team was contacted by Gardai after a couple were unable to descend Carrauntoohil due to the dark. The woman also became sick on their descent. The couple were located at the hut and shortroped to safety.

Saturday, March 26, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The team were contacted by Valentia Coastguard after a walker who was descending Carrauntoohil failed to return to their companion at an agreed point at the top of the ladder. The companion descended to Cronins Yard and raised the alarm. R115 was also tasked by Valentia to cover the area using FLIR. As the team were travelling to various search locations the man was located in the Hags Glen.

Friday, March 25, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Assistance
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 15.20 after a walker reported coming upon a man who had fallen on the Heavenly Gates track and sustained back injuries. Two team members in the area made their way towards the casualty and located him above Are na Locha. The team was stood down and a landrover transported the casualty to an awaiting ambulance.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 13.45 after a woman sustained lower leg injuries on Torc mountain. The team administered first aid and the casualty was airlifted to Kerry University Hospital.

The team was contacted by Anglesea Street Gardai at 13.45 after a woman sustained lower leg injuries on the Sheep’s Head Way. The call was passed to Goleen Coastguard.

Sunday, March 6, 2022. Torc, Partial callout
The team was contacted by a local at 10.15 after a woman sustained lower leg injuries on the lower part of Torc mountain. Team members stretchered her to an awaiting ambulance.

At 13.00 the team got a call from Gardai after a man became cragfast on an icy section of Curve Gully, Carrauntoohil. 2 team members were closeby, and with assistance from other climbers, helped the man to the top of the gully.

The team was contacted by Gardai at 13.40 after a woman broke her ankle on Mount Brandon. Tralee members of the team, along with members of Dingle Coastguard stretchered her down to an area from where she was airlifted by Rescue 115.

Saturday, March 5, 2022. Toinne, Assistance
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 19.35 after a woman and the two young sons got lost after descending Bothar na Gíge. After locating them with Sarloc, 2 team members drove them out from Ard na Locha.

After dropping the previous people to Cronins Yard, a group alerted the Gardaí after stationary lights were seen at the top of Bothar na Gíge for approximately and hour and a half. After driving back in the Glen, it was ascertained that the people were descending safely.

Sunday, January 30, 2022. Barley Lake, Callout
The team was contacted at 10.30 by Gardai after a man suffered a knee injury close to Barley Lake. The team was training at the time and travelled to the area where the casualty was stretchered to an awaiting ambulance.

Sunday, January 16, 2022. Derrynafeana, Alert
Team received a call from Killarney Gardaí after a local person saw lights on the west side of Caher at Derrynafeana just after darkness had fallen. The local person was contacted and no further action was taken.

Friday, January 14, 2022. Priest’s Leap, Alert
Team were contacted by Anglesea St Gardaí requesting assistance for a family that were heading towards Knockboy from the Priests Leap late in the evening. Weather conditions were poor at the time. A short time later the family turned up on the opposite side of the mountain.

Thursday, January 13, 2022. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The team was contacted at 9.00 by Valentia Coastguard after a woman suffered an asthma attack above the Devil’s Ladder. Unable to descend on here own, a full callout was initiated and the casualty was assessed and then shortroped to Ard na Locha. she was handed over to an awaiting ambulance.

The team was contacted at 15.10 after a woman sustained ankle injuries after a fall close to the Cloghane car park on Brandon. The call was passed to Dingle Coastguard.

Sunday, December 19, 2021. Carrauntoohil, Callout
The team was contacted at 18.30 after a woman sustained head and chest injuries after a fall low on the Coimin Uachtar route on Carrauntoohil. She was stretchered to Ard na Locha and transported to an awaiting ambulance at Lisliebane.

Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Dingle Way, Partial Callout
The team was contacted by Valentia Coastguard after a man got into difficulty on the Dingle Way. 3 members as well as Dingle Coastguard responded and walked the casualty to safety.

Monday, November 22, 2021/ Mangerton, Alert
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí after a light was seen on Mangerton. The light was stationery for approximately 1 hour, but after further investigation turned out to be 2 walkers moving down slowly. No action was taken.

Sunday, November 21, 2021. Borlin/Gougane Barra, Callout
The team received a call from Macroom Gardai regarding two 17 year olds that were due back at their car by 4pm. Around this time they made a 999-call saying they were lost. That was the last communication with them. A full call out was initiated and the team split resources with a one crew going into Borlin and another going to Gougane Barra. R115 was on scene and located the casualties. With further information of a grid reference from R115 it was decided that all team members would go to Borlin. The casualties were located with the assistance of the night sun and FLIR from R115. They were walked off to an awaiting ambulance.

Friday, November 19, 2021. Carrauntoohil, Assistance
The Team received a call from Killarney Gardaí at 16.40 requesting assistance for a walker that got disorientated between Carrauntoohil and Cnoc Na Toinne. The walker was located at the top of the Devil’s Ladder where three team members short roped him down to Ard Na Locha.

Sunday, November 14, 2021. Mangerton, Partial Callout
Team received a call from Valentia Coastguard at 16.00 requesting assistance for two people that were lost on Mangerton. Using sarloc the location was identified as near the summit of Stoompa. Team members short roped the casualties on the initial section of steep ground before walking the remainder of the way off.

Thursday, November 11, 2021. Carrauntoohil, Assistance
The team was was contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 14.30 after a man became concerned for his 19 year old sons safety after the weather deteriorated on Carrauntoohil. The son was contacted and asked to turn around and start descending. He eventually agreed to do so. He made it back to Cronin’s Yard at 16.00.

Saturday, October 23, 2021. Hags Glen, Assistance
Cronin’s Yard was contacted after a walker descending the Devil’s Ladder suffered severe cramping and vomiting. After being assisted to Ard na Locha by friends, he was collected by a team vehicle and transported back to Cronin’s Yard.

Saturday, October 16, 2021. Hags Glen, Assistance
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 14.10 after a man sustained a broken leg after falling off the stepping stones at the ford in the Hag’s Glen. A team vehicle was driven from Cronin’s Yard and the casualty transferred to an awaiting ambulance.

Saturday, September 25, 2021. Toinne, Callout
The team was contacted at 19.45 via Cronin’s Yard after a 3-person group reported being in difficulty descending Bothar na Gíge due to one of their group being exhausted. The team shortroped and subsequently stretchered the 75 year old male to Ard na Locha and transferred him to an awaiting ambulance at Cronins Yard.

The team was contacted by Aeromed at 15.00 after a woman sustained hand injuries after rockfall just below Coimín Uachtar lake. She was short roped to Ard na Locha and airlifted To Limerick Regional Hospital by Rescue 117.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 22.00 after a walker on Carrauntoohil spotted lights in Coimin Uachtar and thought the people might be lost. As there was no sign of distress no further action was taken.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 14.55 after a man sustained head, shoulder and rib injuries after falling just below the summit of Carrauntoohil. The man was stretchered to Ard na Locha and transported to hospital by Rescue 115.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 17.15 after a woman sustained head and shoulder injuries after falling on steep ground below the first level on Carrauntoohil. She was stretchered to And na Locha and transported to hospital by Rescue 115.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 14.40 after a man sustained a broken pelvis after taking a 10m fall in the upper half of the Devil’s Ladder. The casualty was stretchered to And na Loch and transported the UHK by Rescue 115.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 16.15 after a woman sustained ankle injuries in the lower half of the Devil’s Ladder. She was stretchered to And na Locha and transported to an awaiting ambulance.

The team was contacted by Killorglin Gardai at 14.00 after a 12 year old got separated from his group between the top of the Devil’s Ladder and the summit of Carrauntoohil The boy was located soon after and was brought down the Ladder by another group.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 1.15am after 2 women got lost in the Hags Glen after descending from Carrauntoohil. 2 members picked them up at Ard na Locha and drove them to Cronin’s Yard.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 15.20 after a woman sustained a broken ankle between the top of the Devil’s Ladder and the summit of Carrauntoohil. A full callout was initiated and the woman was stretchered to Ard na Locha.

During the previous callout, 3 groups needed to be transported from Ard na Locha to Cronin’s Yard:
– 2 elderly people suffering from exhaustion
– A woman with a dislocated shoulder
– A man with a twisted knee

During the previous callout, the team was contacted by Killarney Gardai after a couple and a child became lost in Gleninchiquin. They were guided onto a nearby road by phone, and collected by Bantry Gardai.

The team was contacted by Aeromed at 13.45 after a man jumped from a tree in Killarney National Park, between Muckross House and Torc Waterfall, sustaining a broken ankle. As he fell close to a path, the call was passed to Ambulance personnel and National Park Rangers who drove to the location.

The team was contacted by Aeromed at 19.50 after a local sheep farmer sustained lower leg injuries in the Bridia Valley. A full callout was initiated and Rescue 115 was tasked. Due to fading light R115 had to leave the scene and the casualty was stretchered to an awaiting ambulance.

Friday, August 6, 2021. Carrauntoohil, Partial Callout
At 18.15 the team was contacted by Killarney Gardai after 2 walkers reported having difficulty finding a descent route from the summit of Carrauntoohil. They were guided onto the path to the Devil’s Ladder by phone before losing contact. After an hour of no contact 3 members made their way towards the Ladder. Soon after contact was made that the walkers had made their way safely into the Hags Glen and the KMRT members were stood down.

At approximately 2.45 team member came across a woman with ankle injuries near Ard na Locha. A team vehicle brought her back to the car park.

At 17.45 a Sarcall alert was received after a woman sustained ankle injuries close to Ard na Locha. A team vehicle with 3 members brought her back to the car park.

At 19.40 the team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí after a report came in that a group of 6 towards the top Bothar na Gíge asked a passerby to call Mountain Rescue as one of their group had sustained an injury and needed assistance. At the same time another call was received that a man had sustained knee injuries at the bottom of the Devil’s Ladder. A full callout was initiated and as the team arrived it was ascertained that boths calls were for the same casualty. The group made their way on foot to Ard na Locha and were driven out to Cronin’s Yard.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 18.00 after a man became lost on Toinne while looking for Bothar na Gíge. He was guided to the path by phone.

The team was contacted by Anglesea Street Gardaí at 16.20 after a man became cragfast above Annascaul Lake. The call was passed to Dingle Coastguard.

Monday, July 19, 2021. Alohart, Callout
The team was contacted by Anglesea Street Gardaí at 16.45 after a 64 year old man succumbed to heat exhaustion and descended into steep ground towards Alohart. A full callout was initiated and R115 was tasked. Team members walked the casualty back up to the ridge from where he was airlifted to UHK.

Assistance was required for a walker who had become unwell on the track down to Cronin’s Yard. Team members brought the casualty to the yard where she was met by a Doctor. The casualty was transferred to UHK by ambulance.

At the same time as the previous call, assistance was also required for a walker who had become exhausted in the Hags Glen. A team vehicle collected the casualty and brought him back to his car.

The team were contacted by Aeromed at 15.30 after a woman sustained a broken ankle at the bottom of Bothar na Gíge. A full callout was initiated and the woman was stretchered to Art na Locha and transported to an awaiting ambulance at Lisliebane.

The team were contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 22.30 after a young couple failed to return to Cronins Yard after calling from the summit of Carrauntoohil at 18.50. The couple made contact soon after to report they were down safely.

The team were contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 12 midnight after flashing lights were seen on Carrauntoohil by a camper close to Cronins Yard. On speaking with the camper it was ascertained that the lights were from someone walking out the Hags Glen. No further action was taken.

Monday, July 5, 2021. Toinne, Callout
The team were contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 7pm after a couple became lost in cloud above the Devil’s Ladder. As the couple were unable to use Sarloc a full callout was initiated. On reaching Lisliebane the couple rang to say they had found Bothar na Gíge and were descending. A subsequent call revealed the couple to be in distress on steep ground. Team members walked to their location and helped them down to Ard na Locha.

Friday, July 2, 2021. Bridia Valley, Callout
The team were contacted by Aeromed at 15.10 after a 62 year old male sustained head injuries after a fall high on the Bridia Valley side of Lough Duff. A full callout was initiated and as weather began to clear, R115 was tasked. The casualty was stretchered down to the valley and transported to University Hospital Kerry by R115.

The team were contacted at 16.25 by Killarney Gardai after a couple became cragfast between the first and second levels on Carrauntoohil. Team members lowered them to safety.

The team were contacted at 1.30am by Killarney Gardai after a couple got lost after descending the Devil’s Ladder. They were guided back onto the track by phone and due to exhaustion were picked up by landrover at Ard na Locha.

The team were contacted at 13.45 by a couple who had become cragfast after descending too far towards Currachmore from the summit of Carrauntoohil in thick fog. 4 members roped them to safety and descended cia the Devils Ladder.

The team were contacted by Valentia Coastguard at midnight (Sunday) after a man became cragfast on steep ground and in thick fog above Shrone Lake. The man was walked to safety.

The team were contacted by Aeromed Cork at 14.50 after a 49 year old woman sustained a broken ankle below the summit of Strickeen. R115 was tasked to Strickeen and a team member also attended to the casualty.

At the same time as the previous callout, a 20 year old woman sustained a broken ankle at the bottom of Bothar na Gíge. The rest of the team travelled to Ard na Locha and stretchered the casualty to the landrovers at Ard na Locha, and out to an awaiting ambulance.

On arrival back at the station, Killarney Gardai informed the team of a man who had dislocated his knee at Lough Fada above Gougane Barra. R115 was contacted, but with a heavy workload were unsure of their availability. The team travelled to Gougane Barra and the casualty was airlifted at 19.30.

The team were contacted by Gardai at 13.45 after a man suffered a cardiac arrest on the western side of Brandon. Dingle coastguard and KMRT members responded. 4 members remained at Brandon to assist Dingle Coastguard.

On arrival at the previous callout, the team were informed of another callout on the Devil’s Ladder after an elderly man became exhausted and unable to move. The rest of the team transferred to the Reeks where the man was stretchered to Ard na Locha and transferred to R115 and onto UHK.

The team were contacted by Gardai at 14.40 looking for assistance in the search for a missing person in the Dinis area. Killarney Water Rescue and R115 were also tasked. A body was located at approximately 16.15. RIP.

The team were contacted by Gardai at Anglesea Street looking for assistance after a man had taken a fall near Kinsale. A local Coastguard team carried out the operation. RIP.

The team were contacted by SEMRA at 23.00 requesting members of the team to take part in a search for a missing walker. 5 members responded and travelled to the Comeraghs the next day. A body was located at 18.30 that evening. RIP.

The team were contacted by Aeromed at 10.45 after a mountain biker sustained spinal injuries in Dunmanway. A full callout was initiated but stood down shortly afterwards as local emergency services attended the scene.

The team were contacted by Killarney Gardai after a woman sustained injuries after falling near Slea Head. The call was stood down shortly afterwards.

The team were contacted by Aeromed in Dublin (via Sarcall) at 11am after a woman sustained leg injuries on a path near Torc. A callout was initiated and the woman was transported to an awaiting ambulance.

The team were contacted by Anglesea Street at 16.30 after a woman sustained a broken ankle on Cnoc na dTobar. Valentia were notified and as Rescue 117 was in the area, the casualty was airlifted to UHK.

The team were contacted by Aeromed Cork at 13.10 after a cyclist fell of his bike on the Derrycunnihy – Lord Brandon’s path and sustained spinal injuries. A full callout was initiated and the casualty was treated and moved by Landrover to an awaiting ambulance.

The team were contacted by Killarney Gardaí at 12.50 after a walker became cragfast in the Devil’s Ladder due to the icy conditions. Eight further walkers were then reported to be cragfast in the same area. Four members of the team, already on the hill, lowered them to safety.

The team were contacted by Valentia coastguard after lights were reported on Tomies. With the lights descending and no signs of distress, no further action was taken.

The team was contacted at 19.20 by Dingle Gardai after two people contacted 999 reporting they were lost in thick fog some distance from Annascaul Lake. The team responded along with Dingle Coastguard and the casualties were located at approx 23.20.

Friday, November 27, 2020. Mangerton area, Alert
The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai after a Killorglin man reported a flashing light on the mountains near Killarney. With no sign of the light in the area, no further action was taken.

Saturday, November 14, 2020. Tralee, Assistance
At 12.30 the team was contacted by Tralee Gardaí with a request to help remove the body of a male from a remote area near Tralee.

The team was contacted by a local after a man sustained a dislocated shoulder at the first level of Carrauntoohil. The man was stretchered to Ard na Locha and out to an awaiting ambulance.

The team was contacted by Aeromed Cork at 10am after a man took a fall from a bike and sustained neck and spinal injuries in the Torc area. Local members stretchered him to an awaiting ambulance.

The team was contacted by Killarney Gardai at 12.15 after a woman got lost on the south side of Mangerton. As her phone had no battery left a full callout was initiated. The woman was located at 3pm.

The team was contacted by Aeromedical at 17.00 after a man broke his ankle on the Devil’s Ladder. A full callout was initiated and Rescue 115 was tasked. Due to high winds Rescue 115 was unable to winch and the casualty was stretched to Ard na Locha and driven to an awaiting ambulance.

The team was contacted by Glenbeigh Gardaí at 22.30 after lights were seen on Cara mountain. As the lights were descending and no distress signals were seen, no further action was taken.

The team was contacted by Anglesea St Gardai at 18.00 after a man got lost on Carrauntoohil. As his phone had gone dead, a full callout was initiated. The man was located at 19.45 after descending the Curraghmore side.

The team was contacted by Anglesea St Gardaí at 13.30 after a paraglider sustained a shoulder injury while attempting to take off from the summit of Caher. 3 team members went to the casualty’s assistance and Rescue115 was tasked, and reached the casualty at approx 15.15. The casualty was airlifted at 15.50.

The team was contacted by Gardaí at 13.15 after a walker broke her lower leg above the Grotto on Brandon. Tralee members along with members of Dingle Coastguard stretchered her to an awaiting ambulance.

The team was contacted by Anglesea St Gardaí at 12.45 after an woman sustained a dislocated ankle on Cnoc na Dobar. The call was passed to Waterville Coastguard and the woman was airlifted to KUH.

The team was contacted by Anglesea St Gardaí at 16.00 after an elderly woman collapsed while walking on Torc Mountain. A full callout was initiated. A request was sent for R115 which was denied by NEOC. The woman was stretchered to an awaiting ambulance and the callout finished at 17.55.

The team was contacted by the Killarney Gardaí at 23.00 after lights were spotted on Mangerton. As no signs of distress were seen, no further action was taken.

Friday, July 10, 2020. Token fire Mountain, Callout
The team was contacted by the Killarney Gardaí at 14.10 after a woman sustained a broken leg on Token Fire mountain in Headford, Killarney. A full callout was initiated and Rescue 115 was tasked. The woman was airlifted at 16.45 to Kerry University Hospital.

The team was contacted by the National Ambulance Service at 12.05 after a worker on the RTE mast at Short Mountain reported severe chest pains. Members attended the scene and stretchered the casualty to an awaiting ambulance.
